Thelma Krug

Thelma Krug holds a degree in Mathematics from Roosevelt University (1975), a master’s degree in Probability and Statistics from Roosevelt University (1977), and a Ph.D. in Spatial Statistics from the University of Sheffield (1992). After working as a professor at the Faculty of Engineering in São José dos Campos, she joined the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) in 1982 as a researcher. She also has held various leadership roles, including National Coordinator of the Latin American Society of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (SELPER), Coordinator of the Training and Education Component of the Large-Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia (LBA), and member of the Brazilian Coordination Committee of the Land Use/Cover Change project under the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme/International Human Dimensions Programme (IGBP/IHDP).
